11/28/2023 0 Comments 2019 pennywise actor![]() Where the first film sat very much in the realm of atmospheric horror, this one goes for some more traditional scares but doesn’t forget the techniques that made it successful the first time around. Obviously, what everyone wants from a horror film are the scares, and It Chapter Two delivers with more scares this time around as Pennywise goes to greater lengths to mess with these adults. I still do not understand why it was included as it isn’t remotely funny and doesn’t make any sense… it’s just very confusing. The is one gag in the film where a certain popular song starts playing randomly for a solid 5 seconds and it’s very jarring. Bill Hader is consistently hilarious but also manages to delve into the more serious and emotional parts of the story just as easily. Not every joke hit, but the two of them garnered a number of big laughs regularly. When it comes to the humour, everyone has their moments, but Bill Hader and James Ransone deliver the majority of the comedy just as their younger counterparts did in the previous film. It’s a great ensemble cast that all contribute in their own unique way, but if I needed to pick one, it would undoubtedly be Bill Hader. It’s hard to say who stands out because no-one really does. They really do feel like a united group and it helps in keeping you engaged in the story as you don’t have any issue getting past the fact that they’re just actors. What is so great about this crew is that they exhibit the same level of chemistry that their younger counterparts did in the previous film. ![]() The incredible lead cast is made up of James McAvoy (Bill), Jessica Chastain (Beverly), Bill Hader (Richie), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike), Jay Ryan (Ben), James Ransone (Eddie) and Andy Bean (Stanley). Even if the film didn’t remind you with clever transitions into the past it would still be an easy task due to how closely the actors match the personalities of their younger counterparts. It’s amazing how easy it was to know who you were watching at each time. Whoever did the casting for this film deserves plenty of credit because the correlation between the respective casts is spot on, not only in terms of the personalities and mannerisms, but also with some of the appearances. One thing that makes the integration and transition of the young cast to adult cast so seamless is the cast introduced in this sequel. There’s one character’s arc, I won’t talk about here, that is very cleverly integrated to the story which could have just as easily been omitted. All of the main characters have their own personal arcs, all of which are engaging, and all of which close out with a strong satisfying ending. The links between the adult stories and young stories are strong throughout the entire film and they bring so much more meaning and emotion to each character arc. It makes for a great conclusion to the story that cleverly integrates the younger cast of characters for more scenes exploring their childhood. It takes many turns you don’t expect and does its best to keep you on your toes. From there though, the remaining runtime of almost two hours is smooth sailing as the story continues to ramp up to a big emotional and impactful finale. There is some tension that is introduced early and there is definitely an ominous tone, but it dips in and out for the first act until the threat becomes more consistent. The pacing is off initially as it jumps around a lot and tries to re-instil the fact that Pennywise is back to terrorise the Losers. ![]() The story kicks off in a way that is very intriguing but also doesn’t find its footing until a good hour into it. This sequel doesn’t quite reach the level hit by the incredible 2017 film but it’s still a great horror sequel where director Andy Muschietti and writer Gary Dauberman pull off a thrilling conclusion to the It story despite the difficulty posed in doing so. In part because it’s tough to fit into a single film, in part because you still need to link to the first film, and also due to the book going to such weird places that it’s hard to cherry pick what to include and what to omit. This is the second adaptation of the adult portion of King’s It novel, following the 1990 miniseries, and it’s now very evident that this portion of this story is considerably more difficult to pull off than the younger section.

11/27/2023 0 Comments Guitar hero 3 pearl jam even flowStone (Gossard, Pearl Jam guitarist) wrote the riff and song I think it's a D tuning. That's me pretending to be Stevie Ray Vaughan, and a feeble attempt at that. The song features a funk guitar riff by Gossard. The recorded version of the song actually sounds slightly sharper than D major, with everything tuned up - accidentally or otherwise - around one quarter of a step. "Even Flow" was written in the key of D major, with Gossard performing his parts in open D tuning and McCready complementing it with a similar rhythm pattern in standard tuning. This version is on Pearl Jam's 2004 greatest hits album, rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991–2003). This version was used for the music video, and was used in single releases in the United Kingdom. Īn alternate version of the song was recorded with drummer Dave Abbruzzese in 1992 while the band was recording songs for the soundtrack for the 1992 film, Singles. We played that thing over and over until we hated each other. Not sure why we didn't use that one from the demo as well, but I know it felt better." Guitarist Mike McCready stated, "We did 'Even Flow' about 50, 70 times. There were a hundred takes on that song, and we just never nailed it." Drummer Dave Krusen said, "I was pretty green back then and 'Even Flow' suffered from too much fluctuation." He added that "it was really tough for me. Bassist Jeff Ament said, "I knew it was a great song all along, and I felt that it was the best song that we got the worst take of on the first record. Prior naval research has concluded that “neither phase of the explosion was severe enough … to have significantly impacted Hunley. The Confederate States of America used submarines in combat. ![]() The organization maintains and researches the original submarine. “Something traumatic – perhaps water, a shock wave, or some other intervening force – caused it to stop at that precise time.”įriends of the Hunley – part of the Hunley Project, which was not involved in the new research – declined to comment on the research. “Most importantly, it appears it didn’t wind down naturally,” according to a 2007 update by a research partnership known as the Hunley Project. The watch had stopped at 8:23, about the time of the Hunley’s attack, historians believe. There was another piece of evidence that stood in her favor: a gold pocket watch that belonged to the Hunley’s captain, Lt. “These types of injuries are not subtle,” she added. “Any explosive we’ve seen in the field … would definitely create a lethal wave,” Lance said. She concluded that the shock wave would have instantly killed those aboard the Hunley, based on her calculations and a wealth of prior air blast experiments on large animals. So Lance lowballed it, testing several blasts in the process. Replicating the black powder explosion, Lance said, was the trickiest part of the experiment. The blast can also change with how tightly the powder is packed and how fine the grains are, according to the Naval History and Heritage Command. It is virtually impossible to know how powerful the Hunley’s torpedo blast was, even with the amount of black powder used. Some speculated that it was the Hunley crew signaling that they’d accomplished their mission.īut Lance, who is working on a book about the Hunley, said that she has doubts about inconsistencies in these testimonies. Witness accounts from the night of the Hunley’s sinking claimed that there was a blue light coming from the ocean. ![]() It is possible to survive a blast wave from far enough, according to Chiffelle’s accounts. “The man or animal may be killed outright, without external signs of injury, but often with blood-tinged froth or frank blood appearing in the nose and mouth.” Thomas Chiffelle, a pathologist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, wrote in a 1966 report for the US Department of Defense. “It was … noted that men could be killed or disabled at considerable distance” from an explosive, Dr. The end result: The blood vessels in the lungs can rupture, known as a pulmonary hemorrhage. The wave slows as it hits the lung, Lance said, and “that energy has to transmit somewhere.” Shock waves, like sound waves, travel quickly in water and solids but not air. “The issue is when it’s passing through (the tissues) and it suddenly hits air,” she said. But the real damage, Lance said, probably occurred when the pressure wave reached their lungs. That wave then traveled through the cabin, hitting each of the eight crewmembers, traveling through their bodies. Who were they? So the repeating unit in DNA is this structure here, a nucleotide, which has three different regions. Nucleic acids, of which DNA is an example, are polymers of nucleotides. Cross-linked is not the right word–that is chemically bonded with repeat units to make large molecules so that when you have a bunch of large molecules together they have certain physical properties like the solid property of the plastic that you’re sitting on. We’re familiar with polymers, plastics in our daily life the chairs that you’re sitting on are made of a kind of a plastic polymer that is basically an organic chemical that is cross-linked together. A polymer is just a large molecule that’s made up of repeated units. The molecules that really make up DNA are nucleotides and DNA is a polymer of nucleotides. You’re going to know more details about it, they’re not really colors, they’re chemicals, specific chemicals - but the pattern is the same. The things that you need to know are the things that are really listed on this slide. That’s what I want to do for the first few minutes of the lecture here is tell you a little bit about the details of the structure and how molecules fit into this image of DNA that’s already very familiar to you. This is a feature of DNA shown in this cartoon form, so if you can keep that sort of schematic in mind, it makes it a lot easier to understand the detailed structure. You don’t see a red and yellow, you don’t see green and blue. That there are two colors per strut, so what’s linking the two backbones together are two colored segments that come from the outside towards the middle, and that the colors occur only in certain combinations, red and green, yellow and blue, that’s all you see. One is that there’s four different colors and so you can see red, blue, yellow, green here - four different colors and that’s all there are, there aren’t more than four. There are several things that you’ll notice about the struts in this particular cartoon. ![]() On the inside are the rungs or the struts that hold the ladder together. The backbone’s on the outside of the molecule like the upright struts of a ladder on the outside of a ladder. One thing to notice is this part of the double helix that we’ll call the backbone. Those are two continuous strands that wind around each other to form the double helix. One is that there are two backbones right here in the light blue, so this would be the upright parts of the ladder that are twisted. It’s a twisted ladder and there’s a couple of things to notice about this familiar structure. I want to start by showing you this cartoon that you already know about with the structure of a double helix. It’s really remarkable how far–how fast we have come from just knowing the structure of this molecule to be able to manipulate it and study it in great detail. Building Blocks of DNA ĭNA is a double helix, you know this, the double helix was–the structure of DNA was discovered about the time that I was born and so it’s been known throughout your lifetime, you’ve always lived with it. Then on Thursday we’re going to start talking about how to manipulate DNA and get closer to using it in Biomedical Engineering. So my goal today is to talk about sort of the basics of the molecules, their chemistry, the function of DNA in cells, sort of basic - the basic side of that. We’ll talk about some chemistry today, what DNA molecules are like, why they have the behavior that they do, and you need to understand this in order to understand how you manipulate DNA. I think the book has a fairly good description of it so if you don’t pick up everything in the lecture, hopefully you’ve read that beforehand, and you can go back to it afterwards and read about things that didn’t make sense. I’m going to ask you to indulge me while I go back to the beginning and talk about some things that you know but I’m going to go through this pretty rapidly. In fact, even if you haven’t had a biology class it’s hard to be alive in 2008 and not know something about DNA it’s become such an important part of our lives. ![]() Some of this will be familiar to some of you who’ve have had biology in high school or other places, you know something about DNA. Professor Mark Saltzman: This week we’re going to talk about DNA technology and genetic engineering: this is Chapter 3 of the book. But there were no signs to that effect, and Anderson says he was issued a permit for his group at the visitor center’s backcountry desk just after noon.Įarlier that day, in fact, rangers on a hasty search below Keyhole had found another body-that of Steve Arthur, 58, a traffic supervisor with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department-roughly a mile downstream in Clear Creek. ![]() The canyon was supposed to be closed today. The Park Service had received a report that a group of seven canyoneers, members of Southern California’s Valencia Hiking Crew, had been in Keyhole the previous afternoon when the storm hit and hadn’t returned to their cars. Southern Utah was at the tail end of what had turned out to be an erratic monsoon season, and a powerful thunderstorm had swept through the park the previous day, dropping over half an inch of rain in under an hour. Zion's rangers already knew there was trouble. “I yelled back up at my friends, ‘There’s a body down here!’ ” Rescuers pull a body from Pine Creek after the flash floods. “It was obvious that he was dead,” says Anderson. Checking for life, he flipped the body over and saw a middle-aged male whose skin was cold and white. Anderson grabbed it, only to find that it was attached to a person floating in the murky water. The rope descended 30 feet, terminating in a mess in the muddy pool. “Then I said, ‘I’m going to run down and see what’s going on.’ ” “We probably sat there for ten or fifteen minutes,” says Anderson. ![]() ![]() “When we saw the leg sticking out,” says India, “we didn’t know what it was and joked about it.” Peering over the edge, they could make out something submerged in the small pool below. The trio waited, but the rope never moved. Keyhole drains a very small area, only a couple of square miles, and can be completed quickly if there’s trouble. Anderson chose Keyhole rather than one of Zion’s longer canyons because the day’s forecast called for more weather. The waterway at the bottom, a tributary of Clear Creek, was trickling from the previous day’s rain. Five minutes off the park’s Zion–Mount Carmel Highway, the slot canyon is only 1,200 feet long and requires just three 30-foot rappels and a bit of scrambling and swimming through the cold pools that collect year-round beneath its smooth, narrow walls. Zion National Park, with its towering Navajo-sandstone walls and plunging network of gorges carved by the Virgin River, is the American ground zero for the sport, and Keyhole is considered an ideal introduction. The Piacitellis didn’t have any canyoneering experience, which is generally fine on this route. The couple had gotten married two days earlier, overlooking the Grand Canyon’s Horseshoe Bend, and they decided to honeymoon their way home through Utah’s national parks. It was about three on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, and Anderson, a 25-year-old off-duty canyoneering guide with nearby Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, was leading two friends, India and Jay Piacitelli, ages 20 and 26, respectively, on an outing. At first, Kaden Anderson thought it meant that there was a group ahead of his party, but when he called down no one answered. The ghost rope snaked over the lip of Keyhole Canyon’s third and final rappel. 11/25/2023 0 Comments Base64 decode image program mac![]() Image Base64 decoding is the inverse procedure of encoding.
